Catching UP

Wow it’s been a whirlwind summer already. Problems with our website have kept us from getting to post what’s been going on. After Sevierville, TN we headed home and took a flight to CT to do an All-Star BBQ Event at the Mohigan Sun Casino. Talk about rocking. We were picked up at the airport in a stretch limo and taken to the Casino. It was first-class all weekend. The event went great, and we had a blast. We’re looking forward to doing the event in the coming years. Once we landed back in TX, we had to get back to reality. We headed over to Wynne, AR where we were Reserve Grand Champion with two 180’s. Awesome. Headed back to OK, got the grandsons for a week and took them with us to Chandler, OK where we were Grand Champion. Our oldest grandson, Jackson, competed in the Kids Q and ended up 3rd Overall. Not bad for his first cook-off. Headed on over to Okemah, OK where we finished 3rd overall. Not too bad a run. We loaded up and headed to New Mexico for a couple of weeks. Really glad we left the girls, Aggie and Gabbie, at our daughters. Our first stop was in Artesia. If you like dirt, rock and stickers this is the place for you. Not a great weekend. We ended up 11th overall, but at least David with Butcher’s BBQ out of OK got Reserve Grand. If we can’t do it, it’s great to see one of our friends do well. We pulled out as soon as awards was over looking to get away from the dirt. Luckily the RV park we stayed in was all rock, and actually had a few strips of green grass. We hung out until the next weekend where we headed over to Rio Rancho. Great location and Art always does a great job. We fared a lot better over at Rio. David with Butcher’s BBQ ended up Grand Champion and we ended up Reserve Grand Champion. We both won extra money with Butcher as GC and us as RGC in their Governor’s Cup. It was the highest scoring teams that competed at both Artesia and Rio Rancho. It’s hard to believe that we ended up 2nd with such a poor showing in Artesia. Oklahoma boys did well. Scott with Little Pig Town drove over for the Rio Rancho contest and ended up 6th as well. Headed home to pick up the girls and kick back for a few days.
